About
Hi, I'm Seb.
I'm a traveller who got tired of being fleeced at luxury hotels. Paying a four-figure room rate and then finding a €12 bottle of water by the bed, or being told there's "one bottle per person, per day", never sat right with me.
Why this site exists
When a guest posted about having to pay for water at the Ritz Paris, hundreds of people chimed in with their own stories. Some hotels shower you with free water, snacks and drinks; others ration it or charge for every bottle. Nobody had checked them all, so I started to.
Is the water free? now covers 2,849 luxury hotels. Every answer shows where it comes from: guest reviews, the hotel's own website, menus and hotel listings, each with a date.
How I keep it fair
- No hotel pays to be listed or to change a verdict. Booking links may earn a commission one day; a commission never changes a verdict.
- Guests come first, and a single report is labelled as one. Water with a meal doesn't count.
- Hotels can reply. If a hotel thinks we've got it wrong, it can ask for a correction and we'll look at it.
Help me check
Stayed somewhere recently? Tell me what you paid. A photo of the minibar menu or your bill helps most.
